Legislative Agenda > Priorities of the EPP Groups

The EPP Group's primary objective is to maximise its influence over the contents of the Commission Work Programme (CWP) for the following year. This means that EPP priorities have to be defended at all stages of this ongoing Programming exercise: from its beginning during the structured dialogue (between January and May) performed in each parliamentary committee until its culmination point when President of the European Commission is invited for its speech on the State of the Union during the September plenary part-session.

The EPP Priorities for the coming year are defined within our Group in a transparent way. All the Members of the EPP Group are directly involved and actively contribute at each stage of the process.

Although this objective is ambitious and requires a challenging internal timetable, it is a way to ensure that the centre-right's political message is taken fully into account by the European Commission.
